Today, I got this idea to combine two Tarot cards, “Lovers” and “Strength”, into one image. First, I thought about what these two cards mean to me. “Lovers” is all about connection, harmony, and choices in relationships. “Strength” is about inner power, courage, and gently controlling a situation.
So, I started sketching. I drew a couple holding hands, you know, to show that “Lovers” vibe. But I also wanted to show “Strength” not as some fierce lion tamer, but as a calm, inner force. I figured, what better way to show that than through their expressions and body language? I made one of the figures look super calm and confident, gently holding a lion, which I drew beside them, not as a wild beast, but as a peaceful companion. This was supposed to represent taming one’s inner fears and desires with grace.
- Sketched the couple first, focusing on their connection.
- Added the lion, making it look calm and connected to the couple.
- Played around with colors, using warm tones for the couple to show love and cool tones for the lion to show calmness.
It was a bit tricky to get the balance right. I didn’t want the lion to overshadow the couple, but I also didn’t want it to look like just a random pet. I redrew the lion a couple of times, adjusting its size and position until it felt right. I also spent a good amount of time on the couple’s faces, trying to get that serene, loving, yet strong expression.

After a few hours, I finally got something I was happy with. The final image showed the couple standing together, with the lion by their side, all looking peaceful and connected. It felt like I had managed to capture the essence of both cards in one picture.
I think the most challenging part was blending the two concepts smoothly. It’s easy to draw two separate images, but getting them to work together in one image, that was the real challenge. But it was also the most rewarding part. When I finally saw the finished piece, I felt a sense of accomplishment. It was like I had not only created a piece of art but also told a story about love and inner strength.
I learned a lot from this little project. It wasn’t just about drawing; it was about understanding the deeper meanings of these cards and figuring out how to express that visually. It was a great exercise in creativity and interpretation. Plus, it was just plain fun to mess around with colors and shapes until everything clicked.
Reflections
This whole experience reminded me that art can be a powerful way to explore and express complex ideas. Combining these two Tarot cards wasn’t just about putting two images together; it was about creating something new that reflects a deeper understanding of both. It was a great reminder of how much I enjoy the creative process, from the initial idea to the final product.
I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my creative process. Let me know what you think, and maybe share some of your own creative projects!
