So, I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about Tarot. Specifically, “Is Tarot bad?” And honestly, it’s a fair question! There’s a lot of, like, mystery and sometimes even fear surrounding it. So, I decided to dive in myself and really figure it out, and document the whole shebang.
My Tarot Deep Dive
First, I did some digging. Just poked around online, read some articles, you know, the usual. I wanted to get a sense of what the general consensus was. Turns out, it’s pretty divided! Some folks are totally convinced it’s a gateway to, well, bad stuff. Others swear it’s a harmless tool for self-reflection. Color me intrigued.
Next, I figured I needed some firsthand experience. So, I bought a deck. Nothing fancy, just a standard Rider-Waite deck I picked up from a local bookstore. I unboxed it, and honestly, it just looked like… cards. Pretty pictures, some symbols I didn’t recognize, but nothing inherently spooky.

- Step 1: Learn the Basics. I started by just familiarizing myself with the cards. I used the little booklet that came with the deck and some online resources to learn the basic meanings of each card. Major Arcana, Minor Arcana, suits… it was a lot to take in!
- Step 2: Simple Spreads. I didn’t jump into anything complex. I started with simple, one-card pulls. Like, “What energy should I focus on today?” Just to get a feel for the process.
- Step 3ractice, Practice, Practice.I committed a few minutes to pulling the cards everyday.
I started doing daily readings for myself. Just little one-card draws, asking simple questions like, “What should I focus on today?” or “What energy is surrounding me?” And you know what? It was… interesting. The cards often felt surprisingly relevant. Not in a “predict the future” kind of way, but more like they highlighted things I was already feeling or thinking about. Like a little nudge in a certain direction.
Then, I started doing readings for friends. Just for fun, and always emphasizing that it was for entertainment purposes only. It was cool to see how the cards resonated with them, too. Sometimes it sparked some really deep conversations, which was unexpected but awesome.
My Verdict?
After all this experimenting, my personal take is this: Tarot, in itself, isn’t “bad.” It’s just a tool. Like a hammer, It can used for building, or for destruction. It all depends on the intention and how you use it. If you approach it with respect, a healthy dose of skepticism, and a focus on self-reflection, it can be a really interesting and even helpful tool. But if you’re looking for it to predict the lottery numbers or control other people, you’re probably going to be disappointed, and maybe even head down a weird path.
It’s all about your mindset, really. For me, it’s been a fun way to explore my own thoughts and feelings, and connect with friends on a deeper level. But it’s definitely not for everyone, and that’s totally okay!
