Okay, so I’ve been seeing “83” pop up everywhere lately, in comments, on social media, and I was like, what the heck does that even mean? I’m not super plugged into all the online slang, so I felt totally out of the loop. I finally decided to figure it out once and for all.
My first step, naturally, was hitting up Google. I just typed in “83 meaning” and hoped for the best. I gotta say, the initial results were kind of all over the place. Some sources said it was some kind of code, others hinted at it being related to a specific online community… It wasn’t super clear.
I persevered! I started digging through some forum threads and comments sections where people were actually using the number 83. That’s where I started to see a pattern. It seemed like people were using it in a playful, almost flirty way. Hmm… interesting.
I then went to some of those “urban dictionary” type sites. I usually take those with a grain of salt, but sometimes they’re helpful for this kind of thing. One definition on one of those sites finally nailed it down for me and all the pieces fell together.
It turns out it represents a shape of something. I try to find it by drawing the number “8” and then try to combine number “3” to next to the number “8”. I do it many times, then I realize “83” represents a shape of love, OMG, I’m shocked.
