Today I tried out this One Question Tarot thing, and let me tell you, it was a pretty interesting experience. I’ve dabbled in tarot readings before, but this one felt a bit different, more focused, you know?
Setting the Stage
First off, I made sure I was in a good headspace. I dimmed the lights a little, lit a couple of my favorite candles—vanilla scented, because why not?—and put on some chill background music. Nothing too distracting, just enough to set a relaxing mood. Then, I got my tarot deck out. It’s the one I always use, the cards are getting a bit worn, but they feel like an old friend at this point.
The Question
So, the whole point of this was to ask just one question. I had to really think about what I wanted to ask. It’s not like I could just throw out any old question. After a few minutes, I settled on something that’s been on my mind lately. It was about my job, not going to go into the boring details, but I just feel like I am stuck.

Shuffling and Drawing
With the question firmly in my mind, I started shuffling the cards. I shuffled them good, seven times, like I usually do. While shuffling, I kept repeating my question in my head, trying to really focus my energy. Once I felt it was enough, I cut the deck into three piles and then put them back together. Then, I spread the cards out face down in a fan shape. Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes for a second, hovered my hand over the cards, and picked one. Just one. That’s the rule for this type of reading.
The Reveal
I flipped the card over, and it was the Knight of Swords. This card’s got a picture of a knight, charging ahead, sword in hand. Now, I’m no expert, but I’ve got a little guidebook that came with the deck, and I also like to check a few websites to see different interpretations.
Making Sense of It
From what I gathered, the Knight of Swords is all about action, ambition, and moving forward with purpose. It can also suggest a need for clear communication and facing challenges head-on. This really resonated with my question about work. It felt like the card was telling me to stop dragging my feet and make a decision, take charge. It also hinted that maybe I need to be more assertive and communicate my goals better at work. I felt that the card was telling me that I should take a break from my current job and find a new job.
Wrapping Up
After the reading, I took some time to just sit with the card and reflect on what it might mean for me. I even wrote down my thoughts in my journal, which I usually do after a reading. All in all, it was a really insightful experience. Even if you’re skeptical about tarot, it’s a cool way to get some perspective and maybe even some clarity on things that are bugging you. Give it a try sometime, you might be surprised!
