Okay, so, let me tell you about this little experiment I did today with the number 530. You see, I stumbled upon this thing online where people were saying that “530” is like a code for “I miss you.” Apparently, when you say “530” out loud in Chinese, it kinda sounds like “我想你 (Wo Xiang Ni),” which means, you guessed it, “I miss you.”
Sounds crazy, right? I was like, no way, that can’t be real. But the internet is full of weird stuff, and sometimes that weird stuff turns out to be true. So, I decided to put it to the test.
I started by, you know, just saying “530” out loud a few times. Five-three-zero. Five-three-zero. It felt kinda silly, just repeating numbers to myself. Then, I tried to say it fast, like you would in a normal conversation, see if it sounds like a chinese phrase. Still felt kinda weird, but I kept going.
Next, I started texting some of my friends who are non-Chinese, I thought it would be funny to see how they react. The messages were like “Hey, just wanted to say 530.” Most of them were super confused. I got a lot of “Huh?” and “What’s that mean?” A couple of them even Googled it, which was pretty funny.

- “Are you trying to tell me your PIN number?”
- “Did you just butt-dial me a number?”

But then, I texted one of my friends who’s a bit more into internet slang. And guess what? She actually knew what it meant! She replied, “Aww, 530 to you too!” I was shocked. It actually worked! It’s like a secret little code, I started to use this number to express what I feel. I used “530” when I texted to my mom, and said “520” means I love you when talked to my girlfriend.
After all that, I did some more digging online. Turns out, there are other number codes like this. Like, “520” is supposed to mean “I love you,” and “51921” is like “I still love you.” It’s a whole world of secret number language out there. There are also other explainations for 530 such as a HTTP response. I don’t really understand what it means.
So, yeah, that was my little adventure with the number 530. It started as a silly experiment, but it ended up being kinda cool. Now I have a new way to tell people I miss them, even if they don’t speak Chinese. And who knows, maybe I’ll start using some of those other number codes too. It’s like having a secret language with the internet.
