Okay, so I tried this thing called “hermit time” recently, and let me tell you, it was something else. I’ve been hearing about how good it is to just be alone sometimes, no phone, no people, just you and your thoughts. So, I thought, why not give it a shot?
First off, I picked a day when I knew I wouldn’t be disturbed. I told my friends and family I was going off the grid for a bit. No calls, no texts, nothing. It felt weird at first, like I was missing out on something big, you know? But I stuck to it. I turned off my phone and put it away. Out of sight, out of mind, right?
Then, I started by just sitting in my living room. No music, no TV, just silence. It was a bit uncomfortable, not gonna lie. I’m so used to having some kind of noise in the background. But then, I started to notice things I usually don’t. Like the way the light comes through the window, or the sound of the birds outside. It was kinda peaceful.
I spent some time just thinking, about my life, my goals, all that deep stuff. I even wrote some of it down in a journal. It felt good to get it all out, like I was decluttering my mind or something. I hadn’t realized how much I’d been holding in.
- Morning:
- Woke up, made some coffee, and sat by the window. Just watched the world go by for a while.
- Afternoon:
- Took a walk in the park, no headphones, just listened to the sounds around me.
- Evening:
- Made myself a nice dinner, ate it slow, really enjoyed the flavors. Read a book, the old-fashioned paper kind, and got lost in it for hours.
I did some reading, too. Not on my phone, but a real, physical book. It was nice to hold it in my hands and flip the pages. And I didn’t get distracted by notifications every five minutes, so I actually got through a good chunk of it.
By the end of the day, I felt refreshed. Like I’d hit a reset button or something. It was tough at times, but I realized how much I needed that time to just be with myself, no distractions.
I’m definitely gonna do this hermit time thing more often. It’s like a mini-vacation for your mind. If you haven’t tried it, you totally should. Just remember to turn off your phone, man, that’s the key! And don’t worry about missing out on stuff. Trust me, the world will still be there when you get back.
So yeah, that’s my story about my hermit time experiment. It was a good one. Try it out sometime, and let me know how it goes for you.
