Okay, so, I’ve been getting into this whole tarot thing lately, and I wanted to do a reading with the Salem deck. I’d heard that it’s pretty good for beginners, plus it has this whole witchy vibe that I dig. Here’s how it went down.
First off, I made sure I was in a good headspace. You know, lit some candles, played some chill music, the usual. Then, I grabbed my Salem deck and started shuffling them while thinking about what I wanted to ask. For this reading, I decided to keep it simple and just ask about my general outlook for the next few weeks.
Once I felt ready, I cut the deck into three piles and then put them back together. Some people do it this way, and it felt right to me. Then I started laying out the cards face down in a simple three-card spread. This is supposed to represent the past, present, and future.

- Past: I flipped over the first card and it was “The Wheel of Fortune.” Apparently, this means major changes and cycles ending. Makes sense, I guess, considering I just quit my old job.
- Present: The second card was “The High Priestess.” Okay, this one is about intuition and hidden knowledge. Maybe it’s telling me to trust my gut more? I often ignore it.
- Future: Finally, the last card was “The Star.” This one is supposedly all about hope, inspiration, and renewal. That sounds pretty good, right? Fingers crossed!
After looking at the cards, I spent some time just staring at them and thinking about what they could mean together. It’s kind of like piecing together a puzzle or maybe reading a short story. The booklet that came with the deck was somewhat helpful, but mostly I just went with my own interpretations.
Honestly, it was a pretty cool experience. I wouldn’t say it gave me any concrete answers, but it definitely gave me some food for thought. Like, maybe I should really pay more attention to my intuition, and it’s reassuring to think that positive changes might be on the horizon.
I wrote down the reading in my journal, just so I can look back at it later. I think I’ll keep doing these readings, maybe once a week or so. It’s kind of a fun way to reflect and check in with myself, even if you’re not totally sure you believe in all the mystical stuff. We’ll see how it goes!
