Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout this…this Eighth House Locked Tomb thing. Now, I ain’t no scholar, ya hear? Just a plain ol’ woman tryin’ to make sense of it all like you.
So, from what I gather, it’s some kinda story, a book maybe. They call it a “series,” which just means there’s more than one, I reckon. And it’s about this “Locked Tomb.” Sounds spooky, don’t it? Like somethin’ you wouldn’t wanna go near after dark.
This Tomb, see, it’s important. Folks keep talkin’ about it. And there’s these “Houses,” nine of ’em, like big important families or groups, I guess. The Eighth House, that’s the one they’re on about in this here title.
- Now, the Eighth House, they’re the religious ones. Preachers and such, always talkin’ about some Emperor and his Lyctors. Sounds fancy, but I bet they’re just as much trouble as the rest of ’em.
- They got this Jod fella they worship. Who’s Jod? Don’t ask me! Probably some old god or somethin’. These religious folks always gotta have someone to pray to, ain’t it the truth?
Then there’s these characters…Gideon somethin’-or-other and Harrow somethin’-else. Sound like fancy names to me. City folk names. And a whole bunch of other “goths,” they call ’em. Don’t know what a goth is, but I bet they wear black and look all gloomy.
This story, it’s got “science fantasy” in it. Which means, I reckon, it ain’t real but it ain’t just made up neither. Like, they got spaceships and lasers and such, but also magic and maybe monsters too. And lots of bones, they say. Bones everywhere! Must be a creepy place, this Locked Tomb.
Folks on the internet, they go on and on about it. They got these “subreddits” where they talk and talk and talk. Like a bunch of hens clucking in a coop, if you ask me. But they seem to like it, this Locked Tomb thing. Say it’s funny and dark all at once. Like life, I suppose.
They talk about “spoilers” too. Like, if you tell someone what happens, you ruin the whole thing. So, I ain’t gonna tell ya much more. Just that there’s an Emperor, and some Lyctors, and this Eighth House, and this Tomb, and a whole bunch of people runnin’ around doin’ who knows what.
It’s a whole big thing, this Locked Tomb. Books, and talkin’, and categories and…well, it’s a lot for an old woman like me to wrap her head around. But if you like spooky stories and spaceships and maybe a bit of preachin’ thrown in, then maybe you’d like it.
I ain’t readin’ it myself, mind you. Too much thinkin’ involved. I’d rather just sit on the porch and watch the birds. But if you young folks are lookin’ for somethin’ to keep ya busy, this Eighth House Locked Tomb might just be the ticket. Just remember what I told ya, now. And don’t go lookin’ for trouble in no tombs, you hear?
